Foothill Church | Mexico Trip 2013

A couple of weeks ago Matt and I got to join a team from our church and go down to Mexico. While we were there we got to serve at an elderly home and an orphanage. The need that exists in this world so easily breaks my heart and it can get so overwhelming.Mexico trip with Foothill ChurchMexico trip with Foothill ChurchMexico trip with Foothill ChurchMexico trip with Foothill ChurchMexico trip with Foothill ChurchMexico trip with Foothill ChurchMexico trip with Foothill ChurchWhile we were at the elderly home Matt and I went up to the roof to look at the sunset. It was a crazy, gorgeous view of the ocean. The type of view that costs millions of dollars in the States. Yet here we were, surrounded by elderly who had been forgotten by their loved one. I couldn’t help to feel a sense of awe, wonder and sadness all at once. Mexico trip with Foothill ChurchIn order to protect the girls’ identities I didn’t post ant of the photos from the orphanage. The couple that is currently taking care of 14 girls also started a Christian school in their community. Along with the school, they have started an aquaponics system, in which they can grow vegetables and fruits without the need of soil. The lettuce can grow within 11 days, which is so fast. While the need is big, it is so encouraging to see people who are making such a big difference in the life of these children and this community.
