Lately, my heart has been changing. It changes all the times so that’s not surprising. What is surprising is what I have been wanting to do. Something I swore I wouldn’t do – family sessions. As I think about becoming a parent one day, my heart is beginning to truly appreciate family portraits. Not the posy ones with cheesy smiles but the real, raw ones. The ones that show families just as they are. The ones that kids will be able to look at for years to come and remember what it felt like to be embraced by their parents. The ones that parents will look at when their kids go off to college and will bring tears of joy to their eyes as they remember when their kids were so tiny that they were able to hold them in their arms. I love emotion and that, more than anything, is what I want in my portraits. I want people to feel something when they look at them. I want to feel something when I look at them. So here I am, making it official. As you may have already noticed, my goal is to embark in a new journey and to start doing more family portraits. Weddings will remain my main priority but families will follow closely behind. I will be offering a limited amount of sessions with an additional free gift in the next couple of weeks, so if you would like to book a session, please send me an email at val [at] valentinaglidden [dot] com.
